Oh I like the way you swing
out on the dance floor
at the disco in my mind
I like the way you shake
next to the jukebox
at the dive bar in my dreams
I like the things you say
discussing politics
when I imagine a coffee date
I like the way you smile
and say that you love me
in my own fantasies
you're my fantasy, girl
you're my fantasy girl.
Oh you look so beautiful
in my imagination
and your personality
is an attractive attribute
Oh you are so amazing
in my imagination
that I can never talk to you
I'd just rather dream alone oh oh ohhhhh
I like the look you'd give
from across the room
to tell me to take you home
I like the way you stretch
when you first wake up
in a bed of desperate mirage
I like the way your pants
squeeze over your hips
they're like a platonic ideal
I like the things I said
back in the first verse
about our love reverie
You're my fantasy girl
you're my fantasy, girl
I could never say anything
to bridge this awful gap
so I'll just dream alone

I knew it was a trap the moment that I saw your face. I knew you meant me harm,
in the deepest of ways.
I should have turned and run. I mean that literally.
But I stayed and talked, and you sucked me in.
And in my head there rages such a civil war cause you took my heart and you tore it in two. In my mind there rages such a civil war because, even though you hurt me, girl (dum dum dum dum dum dum dum),
I just can't seem to let you
go oh oh oh
I was having fun. You were planning my demise. At least that's the way, I think it went.
It was akin to murder in the first degree.
But you stabbed my heart with a figurative blade.

The last time that I tried to date a freshman girl
It did not go well for me
I can’t date anyone younger than a sophomore
The last time that I tried to date and older woman
It did not go well for me
I need to stick with women my age

I dropped out of high school to be a punk rock drummer. I wasn't that great of an all around drummer, but I had the qualifications to be a punk rock drummer who dropped out of high school.

Would you be okay?
If we broke up tomorrow?
Or would it break
your heart and make you sad?
Would you act the same way
if tomorrow was today?
I'm asking because
I'm interested
to know how you'd
handle it
I might have ulterior motives
I'm asking because
I don't want the guilt
of breaking you in two.
Would you be okay
or would you spiral
out of control?
Am I making an
egotistical assumption?
If I had my choice
You'd secretly be relieved
by the words I'm about to say
that would be okay.

You know my love, she's like a river.
I am drowning in her wake
You know my love, she's like a tax man
Always finding something more to take.
Oh my love, she was so wide
she jumped up in the air and got stuck.
I'm drinking whiskey in the bath tub
wash my troubles down the drain
cause when she me all alone
you know my life was filled with pain.
But you know what they say about bad luck, son.
Well I've got it in spades

Always trying to do me wrong. Filling me with fear. Playing me like a puppet at a puppet show. I think you should be quiet. My own worst enemy.

You told me that you couldn’t see me anymore. I thought that was a metaphor for miscommunication.
Looking back, I suppose that was ironic.
You told me that we couldn’t talk on the phone. “That’s okay, “ I thought, “I’m not good at it anyway.”
I didn’t know you meant, “in addition to face to face.”
Then you told me it was over. That I understood. Sometimes I read too much into figurative meanings.

I asked her if she liked me she said no. Oh no. That’s a problem for me because I like her. Oh no no no. I said, "I’m sorry."
She said, "No-ohhhh. No I don’t like you." She said, "No-ohhh. Not in that way."She said, "No-ohhh. No I don’t like you."
I said, "I’m sorry."
I asked her why and she said, "Because I don’t find you attractive as a man. I don’t see you in a romantic light."
Oh no no no. I said, "I’m sorry."

I’ve always developed a very quick crush
for the sad faced girl, riding on the bus
Her clothes say she might be alternative
And I can’t tell her what I would give
To see her smile on this day
Just a little glimpse will roll the clouds away ayyy
And I dream we might be listening
To the very same songs on our ride
As she oh so subtly nods her head
I fall in love with her, again and again
Oh I dream we might be listening
To the very same song, the very same song
Under our breath, rows apart
We sing along oh we sing a long
Big headphones protect from the world
I sit there watching with my toes curled
Thinking about dreaming about the things she says
Cuddled next to a lover in bed
And I wanna say those things too
Just to see her smile, To see her smile
